The 73-Step Process of Starting a Simple Task

ADHDers don’t “just start.” We prepare, procrastinate, suddenly remember three other things, get distracted, and then panic. Sound familiar?

Let’s break it down:
🔹 The "2-Minute Rule" (just do a tiny piece of the task).

🔹 External motivation (body doubling, timers, reward systems).

🔹 Trick your brain—tell yourself, "I’ll just open the document," and next thing you know, you’re working.

Another trick that a lot of my folks have found helpful is, as soon as you know that you are stuck, begin counting down from 3

3-2-1, stand up!
